The Kansas City Chiefs fired Todd Haley last week so they're now starting a coaching search to find the new head coach in 2012 and beyond.
Romeo Crennel is the interim coach so he'll receive consideration for the job -- make that strong consideration after beating the Green Bay Packers -- but another name we've seen others throw out is Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, who has a relationship with GM Scott Pioli.
Ferentz's name was rumored when Pioli was searching for his first head coaching hire back in 2009 and it's popping up again this year, apparently for no other reason than the fact that he and Pioli worked together in the past.
Lost amid the Chiefs stunning victory on Sunday is a report from Charlie Casserly on CBS that Ferentz has told him he's returning to Iowa next year.
So that's a wrap on this year's edition of "Kirk Ferentz to the NFL" because coaches never say one thing and do another.
