Todd Haley's Firing Shows How Quickly Things Change

45 days. That's how quickly things can change in the NFL.

Todd Haley was fired by the Kansas City Chiefs as head coach today and it wasn't that long ago that Haley was on top with an AFC West championship.

In fact, it was just 45 days ago that Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was interviewed for a story in the KC Star and he said then that the Chiefs A.) weren't contemplating a head coaching change and B.) that Haley has done a very good job as coach of the Chiefs.

"Making a head coaching change is not something we're contemplating."

"I do think Todd has done a very good job since he's been the head coach of the Chiefs."

And now Haley is fired.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported this morning that Haley and the Chiefs worked on an "exit strategy/settlement" last night so the decision was likely finalized as the game went on yesterday afternoon, perhaps even before.

Since the start of November, the Chiefs have lost five of six games, with three of those coming in big blowouts. The team was everything the Chiefs preached against -- inconsistent.
