NFL Playoff Picture Through 14 Weeks

Taking a break from the Todd Haley fired news....

More than half of the AFC can say they're legitimately involved in the NFL playoff picture with three games remaining.

The Kansas City Chiefs are not one of those teams.

If the playoffs started today, here's what the AFC seeds would look like: 1. Houston Texans; 2. Baltimore Ravens; 3. New England Patriots; 4. Denver Broncos: 5. Pittsburgh Steelers: 6. New York Jets.

Those aren't the only teams involved in the playoff picture, either. Teams that are two games out of a playoff spot include the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. That's 10 teams, more than half of the AFC, who can realistically be talking playoffs right now.

The Chiefs are mathematically alive at three games out with three to play but...the season is almost assuredly over (from a playoff perspective). That puts the Chiefs in a group with these teams: Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Indianapolis Colts.

So that's where we stand this season: the Chiefs are better than at least three teams in the AFC.
