Around this time last year the Kansas City Chiefs had Charlie Weis at offensive coordinator and there wasn't anything out there on Weis leaving the Chiefs for any other position. We thought he would be the offensive coordinator in 2011 and life would be good.
Obviously we were wrong.
And about a year ago, a few weeks after this time last year, ESPN's Chris Mortensen shocked folks with the rumor that Weis was on his way out and Josh McDaniels could be the next offensive coordinator in Kansas City.
Obviously, that was only partially right.
But, a year later, and we're still talking about Josh McDaniels.
Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports brought up McDaniels name in a column that generated plenty of conversation with Chiefs fans earlier this year and now we have another McDaniels-to-KC rumor.
"If, as expected, Todd Haley does not survive in Kansas City," Dan Pompei of National Football Post writes, "Josh McDaniels could end up with the Chiefs three years after many thought he would land there. Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli could hire his old buddy from their New England days to be his head coach-if he could sell McDaniels to Clark Hunt."
Read the entire story for more theories on what Pioli could do.
Josh McDaniels in KC? That would be a tough, tough sell to Chiefs fans. Hopefully they don't have to sell us on that.
