Plenty Of Dolphins-Chiefs Connections

We've got a handful of connections between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins as we continue looking at Sunday's game. Courtesy of the Chiefs game release, here are all the connections between KC and Miami (and sadly Tyler Thigpen is no longer one of them):

  • Chiefs GM Scott Pioli worked with Dolphins offensive coordinator Brian DaBoll for seven seasons (00-06) with New England.
  • Chiefs assistant GM Joel Collier was an assistant coach with Miami (94-04).
  • Chiefs TEs coach Bernie Parmalee played (92-98) and coached (02-04) with the Dolphins.
  • Kansas City special teams coach Steve Hoffman was the assistant special teams coach with Miami (07-08).
  • Kansas City CB Travis Daniels spent time with Miami (05--07) and is a native of Hollywood, Fla.
  • Miami GM Jeff Irleand spent four years (97-00) as an area scout for the Chiefs and is the stepson of former Kansas City LB/C E.J. Holub, who is a member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame.
  • Dolphins regional scout Mike Murphy  worked in the Kansas City scouting department (96-99) and is a graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. 
  • Miami director of player personnel Brian Gaine spent the 98 offseason as a TE on the Chiefs roster.
  • Kansas City DL Allen Bailey attended Miami.
  • Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe is a native of Miami, Fla.
  • Kansas City CB Brandon Flowers is a native of Delray Beach, Fla.
  • Miami regional scout Adam Engroff graduated from Kansas State and is a native of Topeka, Kan.
  • Dolphins TE Jeron Mastrud (06-09) and RB Daniel Thomas played at Kansas State (09-10).
  • Dolphin  athletic trainer Troy Maurer worked at Kansas State (90-92).
  • Miami senior VP of sales and ticket operations Mark Tilson spent three years (07-09) as the VP of sales and marketing for the Kansas City Royals.
