Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley released a statement tonight on the move to acquire former Denver Broncos QB Kyle Orton off waivers.

Here's the statement (which I'm sure has been passed around elsewhere by now):

"We have consistently communicated that we are always looking to create competition and depth within our team. We feel adding Kyle to our roster reinforces that goal and we look forward to having him as a member of the Chiefs."

He's right -- the Chiefs always say they'll do what it takes to make the team better. Sometimes we disagree with their inaction but this time tells me they believe what they're saying.

So....Thanksgiving weekend got a lot more interesting, huh?
