A couple reports out of Boston have the Kansas City Chiefs officially placing QB Matt Cassel on injured reserve and the Chiefs have confirmed -- Cassel's done for the year. ESPN's Suzy Kolber reported earlier on Monday that Cassel landing on IR was a possibility due to his fractured hand.
Cassel's season officially ends a few hours before the Chiefs face off against his former team. That can't be easy to swallow.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that the Chiefs have replaced him with Jeremy Horne on the active roster, which meshes with Albert Breer's report that Horne, and not Cassel, traveled with the team to New England.
The Chiefs should make the official announcement sometime soon which means we're definitely entering into the Tyler Palko era for the foreseeable future. The Chiefs haven't publicly expressed an interest in working out any veteran quarterbacks and we haven't heard of them bringing any in for workouts. Kent Babb of the KC Star has reported that Ricky Stanzi isn't in the plans to start anytime soon.
Here's to Tyler Palko...
