Another day closer to Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots.
There has been quite a bit of news this week -- most having to do with the injury to Matt Cassel and as always I have a a good FanPost and FanShot to highlight. There is also an interesting story from exactly one year ago today featuring former LB Mark Simoneau. If you missed anything then please follow along....
Five Biggest Stories
1. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos Run All Over Kansas City Chiefs
Wow, that was just a horrible game on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs knew what was coming yet couldn't stop the run. I guess I don't feel as bad since the Jets got beat by the Broncos on Thursday night by the same offense. The Chiefs will get another shot to redeem themselves against the Denver Tebows Broncos.
2. Matt Cassel’s Injury Is Significant, Could Be Season-Ending
This is horrible for any player in the league. No one wants to be injured let alone enough to put their season at risk. Since that story, he's had surgery and Chiefs coach Todd Haley said everything went fine. Will this be an injury that will effect Cassel down the road? Will Tyler Palko or Ricky Stanzi step up and be that quarterback for the Chiefs? I just have to say get well soon Cassel. Remember, when things come at you that you have some fans on your side.
3. Caleb Campbell Joins The Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs sign LB Caleb Campbell to the practice squad after LB Justin Cole was signed off the practice squad by the St. Louis Rams. I don't know much about Caleb but I have seen a few videos and he doesn't look that bad--for a practice squad guy for now.
4. Chiefs Injury Report Includes Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr
Let's hope both these guys play. If they don't, the Chiefs could be in even bigger trouble. It is bad enough that Tom Brady will have all day. If the two best coverage players are out, Brady might have a record day at quarterback.
5. Ben Roethlisberger Has Thumb Injury; Expected To Play Vs. Chiefs
This is some pretty interesting news about our opponent after the Patriots. The Steelers are on bye this week so Ben will most likely play. However, will this injury be a factor in the game? Todd Haley has actually beaten the Steelers as head coach and the Chiefs seem to play the best ball when their backs are against the wall.
In Case You Missed It...
1. No Chiefs Among League Leaders In Early Pro Bowl Voting
This isn't really a surprise because the Chiefs haven't had any players that really stand out. I do think, however, that at least two Chiefs players end up making the Pro Bowl this year. I think Tamba Hali is going to pick up his numbers dramatically and Derrick Johnson if his stats keep going up. If Brandon Flowers can avoid giving up any touchdowns, along with his interceptions, he could be a candidate, too. If Palko gets going with Dwayne Bowe early on then Bowe might have a shot.
2. By Beating Chiefs, Bill Belichick Would Pass Bill Parcells In All-Time Coaching Wins
Wow, this is just amazing. Belichick has 183 wins as head coach. If the Patriots beat the Chiefs he will move ninth on the all-time win list.

A Year Ago Today...
Kansas City Chiefs LB Mark Simoneau Announces His Retirement
This is for those who remember Simoneau. He actually went to Kansas State and was born in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He was drafted in 2000 by the Atlanta Falcons. Last year, he played in one game for the Chiefs registering no stats.
