Maybe it's just because we're so close to it all but have you ever felt worse about a second place team after Week 10? The Kansas City Chiefs loss on Sunday to the Denver Broncos puts them in a three-way tie for second place in the AFC West.
Here's what the AFC West standings look like through 10 weeks:
1. Oakland Raiders (5-4): The Raiders own the division lead with seven weeks remaining, which is not something I expected to be writing this year. They have their flaws, sure, but if Carson Palmer puts together a multi-week stretch of good football then I think the Raiders just might be the best team in this division.
2. San Diego Chargers (4-5): The Chargers usually struggle in September and early October but this year they started the season 4-1 and looked destined to dominate a weak AFC West. A month later and the Chargers have dropped four in a row and look completely lost.
3. Denver Broncos (4-5): Well, I'm not sure what to think. Over a 16-game season, you would think the Broncos can't be successful with this style of play but give them credit -- they're 3-1 with Tim Tebow at quarterback this season. Whatever he's doing, they're winning.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (4-5): The Chiefs are facing one of the most difficult five-game stretches any team will see this season and they just lost two of their most winnable games of the season.
