The Denver Broncos spent the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft on a young linebacker they said had tremendous skills, Von Miller. Coming out of Texas A&M, Miller, as an outside linebacker, had a pretty good role model -- the late Derrick Thomas.
Miller talked about DT throughout the pre-draft process and even after he was drafted Miller wore No. 58 in honor of, you guessed, DT. So now Miller makes his Arrowhead Stadium debut, the same place where DT for so many years made opposing quarterbacks look silly.
"It's definitely going to be special, going in there and wearing No. 58 in a stadium I definitely want to play well in and in a way that he would be glad for me wearing his number," Miller said, per the (other) AP. "He had fanatical effort and relentless pursuit to the ball. I try to have that same effort."
He's only played eight games but the stats indicate Miller is off to a good start -- 31 tackles, 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Now if he just does that for the next decade, the DT comparisons can start.
