He was our rival but I'm incredibly sad to inform all of you that Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has died at the age of 82, the team's website confirmed.
Davis' career started as a coach back in the 1960s before he shortly served as the AFL's Commissioner. Ultimately, he bought a stake in the Raiders and, despite what's happened in the last 10 years, had an incredible amount of success running the team.
The last 10 years have been different. The Raiders have struggled as Davis' health has clearly been in decline. From what I understand, he was still an everyday participant in the silver and black's football business.
He's a Pro Football Hall of Famer for a reason. This is going to be a strange day.
So long, Al Davis.
