Greetings from Arrowhead Stadium, site of tonight's Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers.
I'm just settling into my seat in the press box after making the trek through the parking lot. The tailgating action looks solid as usual with the booze flowin' and the barbecue smokin'. (Note: Don't walk through Arrowhead Stadium hungry. Torture.)
There are a handful of players out on the field warming up, throwing some passes and stretching. The field looks perfect right now (...if only the Chiefs field crew could work on my lawn). The ESPN Monday Night Football logo is up on the Jumbotrons and from my view there's a layer of smoke over the parking lot.
I also learned on the trip here that I apparently look like Brett Eldredge, a country music star singing the national anthem tonight. I was walking into the stadium and someone stopped me and said, "Brett?" I said, "Um...what?" I guess I should've said I was Brett and shown the world my voice, the same voice in the eighth grade school musical I headlined nearly 15 years ago.
It's Monday night, folks. Back to the national stage.
This is officially your two-hour countdown.
