If your'e looking for a reason to watch the NFL playoffs today then think about this -- the winner of the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts game tonight will determine where the Kansas City Chiefs go next week...assuming KC beats the Baltimore Ravens, which actually isn't a very good assumption.
But we can daydream for a while since the Chiefs don't play for another 24-plus hours so daydream along with us. Here's what the Jets-Colts game means if we operate under the idea that the Chiefs will beat the Ravens.
A Jets victory means the Chiefs would travel to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers. That game would be on a Saturday. The Jets would then travel to New England to face the Patriots.
A Colts victory means the Chiefs would travel to New England to play the Patriots. That game would be on a Sunday. The Colts would then travel to Pittsburgh in that case.
Both AFC games in the divisional round would be on at 3:30 p.m. (Arrowhead time) and televised on CBS.
That means I'm rooting for the Jets to win. I think I'd rather put off playing New England as long as possible and head to Pittsburgh next week.
Of course, that's assuming the Chiefs avoid setting an NFL record playoff losing streak and do what they haven't done since Jan. 16, 1994 and that's win a freakin' playoff game.
