Eric Berry Is The NFL's Defensive Rookie Of The Month

Matt Cassel took home AFC offensive player of the month honors in November and now we've got another Kansas City Chiefs player being honored for his work in December. The Chiefs announced safety Eric Berry has been named the NFL defensive rookie of the month for December (and January).

This is the first time a Chief has won the award.

Berry had 39 total tackles in during that span including two interceptions -- one of which was taken to the house against the Tennessee Titans. Berry really had a solid month and, unlike some rookies, has gotten better as the year goes along. We talk about hitting the rookie wall but it doesn't appear that's the case with Berry.

This is a nice way to cap off the regular season and the 2010 rookie class, no?
