Top 10 Kansas City Chiefs Stories Of The Year: Charlie Weis Leaves

We continue on with our top 10 Kansas City Chiefs stories of the year. At No. 7 is Charlie Weis leaving for the University of Florida.

The news obviously came as a shock to most of us. I remember hearing about this first from a radio show by Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun the day before it all broke. He was passing it off as a rumor -- a "This can't really be true can it?" type of rumor -- and I didn't think much of it.

Then the news started coming in on Friday, Todd Haley said he didn't know anything about it and by Sunday, the final regular season game of the year, Haley confirmed the news.

This story had a lot of traction because respected national reporters suggested Haley and Weis had trouble getting along. Some defended Weis while others did not. Overall, it seemed like a messy divorce (from the public perception, at least).

Our first three entries into the top 10 stories of the year were very positive but this one is not.
