Chiefs Want Cory Greenwood More Involved

Kansas City Chiefs LB Cory Greenwood has an interesting story. Last year, Greenwood was the No. 3 overall pick in the CFL draft but decided to sign, as an undrafted free agent with little guarantee of making the team, with the Chiefs.

He stayed on the roster all season, which is impressive, and sounds like he has a shot to return next year.

"Overall, they thought I played well," according to The Whig-Standard, a paper in his hometown of Kingston.

The logical next step for Greenwood is participating more as a linebacker instead of just special teams. He tells the paper that the Chiefs want him to contribute in more ways.

"They want me to learn the NFL passing game, be a third-down linebacker, contribute in more ways. It doesn't hurt to have more tools in the toolbox," he told The Whig-Standard.

Greenwood isn't officially signed for 2011 but the Chiefs can retain his rights if they choose.

Greenwood has a great story going for him already so it'd be cool if that continued and got better and better. Maybe the diamond in the rough is here to stay.
