2011 Senior Bowl week is underway in Mobile, Alabama and one name on the sidelines is familiar to Kansas City Chiefs fans -- Wallace Gilberry. The Chiefs third year defensive end made an appearance at Senior Bowl practices on Monday, according to the Alabama Press-Register.
Gilberry went to school at Alabama and hails from the area so I imagine he's back home for part of the offseason.
The Press-Register story states Gilberry is "currently in contract negotiations and hopes to return to Kansas City." That they're in negotiations would suggest that the Chiefs want him back in Kansas City as well.
Gilberry's worth is difficult to determine because while he didn't play every down he did end the season second on the team in sacks with seven.
Gilberry is a third-year player who would probably fall under the restricted free agent umbrella depending on how the next labor deal shakes out.
Keep an eye out for Gilberry and what his future is in Kansas City.
