Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 1/19

Happy Wednesday, Chiefs fans! Here's today's Kansas City Chiefs news.

Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli was selected NFL Executive of the Year by the Professional Football Writers of America, Pro Football Weekly announced Tuesday.

The Chiefs, in Pioli's second season in charge of the team, won the AFC West with a 10-6 record, matching the total number of wins the club managed in the three previous seasons.

Rookie safety Eric Berry became the third Chiefs draft choice under Pioli to earn PFW All-Rookie Team honors. He was joined by Browns safety T.J. Ward on the rookie squad.  Last year, both DE Tyson Jackson and K Ryan Succop made the team.  The fact that Jackson made any kind of rookie team tells you all you need to know about the so-called quality of that draft class.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we'll break down the Chiefs roster and decide whether each player is ascending or descending and whether we think they are the long term answer at their position. We'll look at the players play this season and we will also evaluate their grades and statistics from Pro Football Focus, a partner of AA that evaluates and grades every player on every play of every game. We trust the stats and evaluations from PFF to be the most accurate out there. Please note that the stats cited in these articles may not match up with the official stats from the NFL but again, we feel they are more accurate.
