The Oakland Raiders held a press conference this afternoon to introduce new head coach Hue Jackson. In addition to Jackson, owner Al Davis was on stage and press conferences involving Davis are usually among the most entertaining.
This one was no different.
Here's what Al Davis and Hue Jackson had to say: (aired on CSNBayArea.com):
-Confirmed Jason Campbell was their quarterback moving forward.
-Hue Jackson predicted a division title for the Raiders in 2011.
-Says Jackson will be supported as much or more than Tom Cable was by the players in the locker room.
-He thought with about five games to go this year that they had a great chance to get into the playoffs "if we didn't mess it up. We messed it up."
-"Had we gotten to the playoffs, I compared it to the '80 team. We came in as a wildcard, made a run and won the Super Bowl."
-Talked about John Elway, Steve Young and Jim Plunkett when asked about Jason Campbell improving.
-He says he doesn't know if Nnamdi Asomugha will be back next year (he's scheduled to be a free agent). He said he had a chance to trade him last year and asked if he wanted to go and Asomugha said no.
-He didn't sound like he was for an 18-game schedule because it meant another home game and they have trouble selling them out. He also stressed the need for a new stadium.
-He says he won't consider hiring a general manager right now.
