While the attention with the Kansas City Chiefs tight ends have been focused on Tony Moeaki this year, it was Leonard Pope who Todd Haley singled out on Wednesday when talking to reporters.
Haley was talking about the Chiefs player-coaches, running down the list of the guys he's chosen as coaches for the week and stopped at Leonard Pope.
"Leonard Pope. No disrespect to any of the other guys but I don’t know if there's a guy that cares more about this team than Leonard Pope."
That's some high praise for a guy we don't hear about very often.
Pope came to the Chiefs in 2009 when the cupboard was completely bare at tight end. Since then, Moeaki has been added and Pope has been relegated to mostly blocking duties.
"Prideful guys don't ever want to be part of something negative and that's what they're doing."
Check out the video at KCChiefs.com. There's a good part in there about Casey Wiegmann as well.
