Within a couple of hours of Todd Haley confirming that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis had some sort of health issue, Shan Shariff of 610 Sports reported that Weis had gall bladder surgery early Monday morning.
Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star confirmed the news via Weis' agent Bob LaMonte.
Weis was diagnosed with an infected gall bladder on Friday night but chose to deal with the pain and delay the surgery until Monday morning.
"He didn’t bother to do anything other than live through 48 hours of pain," LaMonte told Babb. "He’s a tough dude."
Weis will get out of the hospital on Tuesday and is not expected to miss any games, according to both reports.
Weis has had a few health problems over the years (as detailed here by Babb) including an "11th hour" knee injury two days before the start of training camp that left him in a motorized wheel chair and walking with a cane.
