Last week when the Kansas City Chiefs were 2-0 we passed along the stat that historically about two-thirds of all teams that start 2-0 make the playoffs.
This week, with the Chiefs sitting at 3-0, we've got a new stat: Since 1990, 75 percent of 3-0 teams make the playoffs.
The one people that definitely aren't buying into the hype are the Chiefs themselves.
After the big Monday Night Football victory over the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs players found a slice of cheese in their locker. The message was from an old Bill Parcells motivational tactic: "Don't take the bait."
Don't believe what the media and even the fans are saying about the team. Todd Haley has said one of his biggest tasks is keeping this team on point and remembering that it's just one, one quarter a time.
"We haven't done anything yet," Haley told reporters after Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Well, they have done something. In the last 14 days, the Chiefs have put up 30 percent of the victories they had over the last three years.
That means we're one step closer to not hearing that 10-wins-in-three-years stat anymore.
