Chiefs vs. 49ers: Remembering Two Dominating Performances

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will meet on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium and if it's anything like a couple of games I cherry-picked here remember, it could be a fun to watch for Chiefs fans.

The first game I'm thinking of came on Nov. 30, 1997. The 49ers were one of the league's best (eventually going 13-3) and came into Arrowhead only to get dominated. I remember being at this game when I was younger.

The 49ers were sacked five times and turned the ball over three times as the Chiefs cruised, 44-9.

Interesting note: That was game five of the short-lived "Rich Gannon era" in 1997.

The second game I'm thinking of came in 2006 when the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Kansas City 41-0.

Steady Damon Huard (he still available?) lead the Chiefs completing 18-of-23 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

It's strange that two of the more dominating performances I remember by the Chiefs is against the same NFC team they see every four years.

Anyone else remember these games? The 1997 game was one of the most memorable for me.
