I've been perusing the Kansas City 2010 schedule and I have to say I like the way things are turning out.

The Chiefs schedule breaks down into just a few categories from here on out.

The Early Tests

After the Chiefs play San Francisco, they'll be sitting at 2-1 or 3-0, still atop the AFC West so there's no doubt the team thinks it can make the playoffs. They'll receive two early tests that will be an excellent gauge of where they stand in the conference as a whole.

In the toughest two-game stretch of the season, the Chiefs will play the Colts and Texans -- both away.

They won't be favored to win either one but playing against a couple high-powered offenses will be a good test to see where the Chiefs really stand.

Seven Straight Winnables

So the Chiefs proved against the Chargers on Monday Night Football that any team can win any game any time. After the Chiefs two-game test against the Colts and Texans, they face a much tamer schedule that

Jacksonville, Buffalo, at Oakland, at Denver, Arizona, at Seattle and Denver.

I don't think any of those teams will be expected to blow the Chiefs out by any means. In fact, some time during this stretch will likely be the first time the Chiefs are favored to win. But they'll drop a game somewhere. For example, it's tough to imagine the Chiefs sweeping Denver.

Week 14 Against The Chargers

If recent history is accurate, it'll be the Chargers who are near or atop the division late in the season.

The Chiefs travel to San Diego in Week 14 for what could be a big showdown. Having a two-game lead on the Chargers would be significant for the Chiefs. This could be a big division game.

The Rest Of The Way

The Chiefs continue the rest of their schedule traveling to St. Louis and hosting Tennessee and Oakland. Again, like the seven winnables stretch, these are three that the Chiefs will have a real shot at winning.

I'm not making any hard predictions on how the Chiefs will do the rest of the way because the season is only two games deep but I do think they'll be at least competitive late into the season. The schedule is actually shaping up nicely for them.
