Jimmy Raye And Mike Solari Among Familiar Faces As 49ers Travel To KC This Weekend

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers this weekend and there are a handful of connections between the two franchises, which is courtesy of the mothership

There aren't many notable connections but we do have another mention of community college NFL powerhouse Coffeyville. 49ers safety Dashon Goldson played at Coffeyville CC, as well as a number of other notable NFL players. Coffeyville alums include  RB Brandon Jacobs, S Reggie Nelson, G Ryan Lilja and WR Devin Thomas. 

  • Chiefs defensive line coach Anthony Pleasant played for the 49ers (2000).
  • San Francisco offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye ('92-00), special teams coach Kurt Schottenheimer ('89-00) and offensive line coach Mike Solari ('97-07) coached for Kansas City. Solari also coached at Kansas ('83-85).
  • Schottenheimer's brother Marty Schottenheimer served as the Chiefs head coach ('89-98).
  • Chiefs area scout Aundrae Harris played collegiately at California.
  • Kansas City CB Jackie Bates is a native of Benicia, CA.
  • Chiefs LB Justin Cole played at San Jose State.
  • 49ers WRs coach/senior asst. Jerry Sullivan ('71-72) coached at Kansas State ('71-72).
  • San Francisco TEs coach Pete Hoener was a graduate assistant at Missouri ('75-76).
  • 49ers inside LBs coach Vantz Singletary was a LB at Kansas State.
  • 49ers head athletic trainer Jeff Ferguson worked at Kansas State. 
  • 49ers S Dashon Goldson played at Coffeyville (KS) CC.
  • San Francisco FB Moran Norris played at Kansas.
  • 49ers DT Justin Smith played collegiately at Missouri.
