Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley says the plan going into the game against the Cleveland Browns this afternoon was no returns for Josh Cribbs.
Last year Cribbs torched the Chiefs and I think Haley wanted to make sure he eliminated that in the Chiefs 16-14 victory.
"We had to contain 16, Cribbs, who's a heck of a player," Haley said after the game (audio via 610 Sports). "We let him out of the trap one play and that hurt us.
Cribbs caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Seneca Wallace.
"I thought our kickers, Ryan and Dustin [did a good job] because the plan was no returns. They had to scheme to get him one at the end and he had one early on a punt rteurn but what a job these two kickers did. They stepped up to the task in an unselfish way and that's what I'm looking for."
Cribbs had one punt return for five yards and one kick return for 19 yards along with his 65-yard touchdown catch.
Did the Chiefs contain him? 74 yards and a touchdown is good enough if you win, which the Chiefs did.
