Kansas City Chiefs Hire New CFO Dan Crumb From New Orleans Hornets

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday the arrival of new Chief Financial Officer Dan Crumb, who most recently served in the same capacity with the New Orleans Hornets.

"We are very excited to welcome Dan to the Chiefs," said Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. "Dan has a proven track record of success as a financial officer, and his leadership and experience make him a key addition to our business operations."

This is the second move made at the executive level this week with Denny Thum's resignation as Chiefs President on Tuesday.

Crumb will be reporting to Mark Donovan, the club's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

"Dan's extensive experience as a CFO and his knowledge of professional sports teams will bring significant benefit to the Chiefs and the Kansas City community," said Donovan. "We're looking forward to his contributions."

The fact that Crumb comes from the non-NFL world shouldn't surprise. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli regularly communicates with the leaders of other organizations outside of the NFL including some of the Red Sox management when he was in New England as well as GM Dayton Moore with the Kansas City Royals.
