Chiefs vs. Chargers: Five Pregame Predictions Nearly Come True

I'm not usually one to toot my horn but my five predictions before the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers game on Monday Night Football were pretty close to being accurate.

Here are my original predictions (in bold) and some thoughts on how things really turned out. Check out the original story if you put your own predictions in the comments. How'd you do?

The Chiefs will not get more than one sack.

OK, I was close here and I'm going to argue that I was correct on a technicality. If you go look at the score sheet, Glenn Dorsey and Tamba Hali are credited with a half sack each, yet Philip Rivers was sacked twice. The second sack on Rivers was credited -- in the press box at least -- as a "team sack". So Rivers was sacked twice but the Chiefs stats say once.

The Chiefs will have one running back eclipse 100 yards. Looking at you, Jamaal Charles.

11 carries for 92 yards is pretty darn close to 100 but not quite. Still, though, you gotta give me some credit. There were some who thought Charles and Thomas Jones would take carries away from each other and neither would approach 100 but Charles came close with the help of a 56-yard touchdown.

The Chiefs will win the turnover battle with one interception and one fumble.

I was partially right here. The Chiefs did win the turnover battle going +1. However, that came from a Ryan Mathews fumble. There were no interceptions in the game.

Philip Rivers will throw for over 300 yards.

298 yards. Rivers didn't look completely sharp but after the game I looked at the box score and he had nearly 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Chiefs will win the game.

I nailed this one.
