We're starting to move on from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and onto the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs next preseason opponent.
If you're like me, the Eagles still bring up a bad taste in your mouth.
Last year, with Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb and the Eagles lit up the Chiefs 34-14. This is the game that the Chiefs started running the ball in the second half when they were down several scores. That made folks wonder if Todd Haley "quit" on the game.
Kolb passed for 327 yards and two touchdowns completing 24-of-34 passes. It was one of the games that likely made the Eagles staff more comfortable picking Kolb over McNabb.
Matt Cassel had a very average game. He completed 14-of-18 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
This time around, things should be much different if not just the players on the field.
- Running back: The Chiefs won't have Larry Johnson taking the bulk of the carries. Instead it'll be Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones on the first team.
- Tight end: Leonard Pope and Tony Moeaki will likely be the featured tight ends. Last year's leading tight end in this game? Sean Ryan.
-
Safety: Mike Brown and Jarrad Page? How about Eric Berry and Jon McGraw?
- Returner: Last year the Chiefs had Dantrell Savage and Bobby Wade returning kicks. With Javier Arenas, things should be much different this time around.
Yeah things are much, much different. The Eagles are now led by Kolb and not McNabb while the Chiefs have an influx of new players. We'll see if the result is the same.
