It's the big day for the Kansas City Chiefs. It's also probably a dreaded day for some players.
The conditioning test.
Before the Chiefs depart for camp this afternoon, the Chiefs players will get the test.
As we learned last year, this is no piece of cake and there will more than likely be someone who fails the test. Last year there were a handful of players that didn't pass.
I'm assuming the conditioning test is unchanged from last year. Here's what it entailed then:
50 yard sprint three consecutive times then a one-minute break. You go through that process three times.
The skill positions (defensive back, wide receiver) have 55 seconds to do it. The middle guys (running backs, tight ends, quarterbacks and linebackers) have to do it in 58 seconds and the big guys (offensive and defensive linemen) have to do it in 62 seconds.
After the conditioning test this morning, the Chiefs will make the trip up north to St. Joseph, MO for training camp.
Do you understand how close we are to football in pads?
