We've noted that the floor and ceiling is set for Chiefs rookie third rounder Jon Asamoah meaning the player before and after him has signed slotting the basic outline of the contract he'll receive. That's part of the reason the rumor mill is churning that the Chiefs will soon announce that Asamoah is signed.
With Nate Allen signing with the Eagles, same goes for Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster. Via Mac's Football Blog:
35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Brian Price, DT, UCLA - Signed (4-years, $5.32M; $3.55M guaranteed)
36. Kansas City Chiefs - Dexter McCluster, WR, Mississippi
37. Philadelphia Eagles - Nate Allen, S, South Florida - Agreed to Terms (4-years, financial terms undisclosed)
I said earlier Allen's deal could potentially cause some problems since the Eagles had basically already given him the starting job increasing his leverage to ask for a non-slotted deal (which I suppose still could've happened).
So two of the Chiefs four unsigned draft picks don't have a ton of wiggle room remaining. The two sides could be haggling over a number of things at this point.
The players surrounding Eric Berry and Javier Arenas have yet to sign contracts but that doesn't mean a deal isn't necessarily close -- the Chiefs set the trend on Tony Moeaki signing him before anyone else around him was inked.
