A few weeks ago we told you about inside linebacker David Olson who participated in the ELITE Pro Football National Combine for NFL coaches. The Chiefs were reportedly one of the teams interested in him. In fact, they were so interested that Olson thought at one point he had secured a spot in Kansas City for training camp.
However, Olson had suffered a shoulder injury in college and that was "enough to scare them off", Olson says.
Olson said the Chiefs pored over his physical report "with a fined-toothed comb." Olson said his shoulder, which he injured in college, is 100 percent now, but the Chiefs still weren't willing to take the risk.
"They have hundreds and hundreds of people on their list, so it's easy for them to find someone else the same size with the same speed," Olson said.
He says he even offered to sign a waiver but that wasn't enough, even though he says his shoulder is 100%.
If the Chiefs get all their rookies signed in time, then that means adding Olson would require a cut at another position. If Olson thought he was on the verge of joining the team, the Chiefs probably had an idea of who they would cut.
I wonder who that is.
