On June 14, the Chiefs somewhat surprisingly cut third quarterback Matt Gutierrez in favor of Tyler Palko. Neither player is (or was) expected to make an impact in the 2010 season so it really wasn't a big deal either way.
But Gutierrez has found a home with the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks. The former Chiefs quarterback is listed on the Nighthawks mini-camp roster.
Gutierrez isn't the only former Chief. Omaha's UFL team is stocking up on former NFL players with several Chiefs including CB Ricardo Colclough and LB Gary Stills.
Stills joined the club last year.
Check out all these other former NFL names on there: RB Ahman Green, DT Hollis Thomas, DB Anthony Dorsett, WR Robert Ferguson, OT George Foster, QB DJ Shockley and TE Jeb Putzier.
I remember a time last year when we briefly wondered about Foster, an offensive tackle. The Chiefs have come a long way since then.
