The Chiefs attended the pro day for supplemental draft entrant Harvey Unga, running back from BYU. Most teams are looking at him as a ball carrier and not a full back. For the Chiefs, it appears he'd fulfill the role Thomas Jones is expected to take in 2010 but that's just speculation.
This weekend Eric Metz, agent for Harvey Unga, told the Salt Lake City Tribune that his client will "absolutely" get drafted
"Absolutely, he will get drafted somewhere. It is just a matter of where, and what team. I think more than what round, you just hope it is a good fit. You don't want him going to the wrong team, where it is not going to fit well. So, we have been really encouraged that 26 teams have contacted us and have done extensive research on him," Metz said. "He has met with some general managers, some player personnel directors face to face. Everybody says the same thing about the film...But I guess we will know a lot more a week from now."
One of those general managers could be Scott Pioli. The Chiefs have met privately with Unga on two occasions, according to a report.
With the Jones signing, I think the Chiefs are willing to be a run-first team and an Unga signing would help support that.
The supplemental draft is July 15.
