Rookie Justin Cole Has The Second Most Experience At OLB On Chiefs Roster

We've talked a lot over the last year about defensive ends making the switch to linebacker because we saw the Chiefs go from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

Justin Cole, one of the Chiefs undrafted free agents, made that same switch his junior year in college. Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com posted an interview with Cole where he talked about that.

I think that I had to learn a lot of it on the go. It was a lot of baptism by fire. Linebacker is a lot more detail oriented and you have to know a lot more than a defensive end necessarily would on any given play. I think that I picked it up very well and it’s something that I think, as a player, is a strength of mine. I’m able to mentally adapt to things very well and that transition was actually very good to me. I’m happy that I got that opportunity and was able to make the best of it.

This is a big switch that a lot of the outside linebackers are going through.

Surprising fact from Looney: Cole has the most experience at outside linebacker -- outside of Mike Vrabel -- currently on the roster. Everyone else either made the switch last year or is doing so this year.

That's amazing.
