At 34 years old, his skills dwindling and without a home in August, Amani Toomer felt he had something to offer the Chiefs when he signed with them. At the time, he said he was excited to show folks that he could still play.
The Chiefs apparently disagreed releasing him before the season. He said last November that he felt going to Kansas City was a mistake (the Chiefs probably agree).
"I feel like it was a mistake going to Kansas City," Toomer told Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com. "I played 13 years in a great organization like the Giants. I was in a preseason game with Kansas City and it felt like it wasn't pro football to me. It kind of made it easy for me (to walk away)."
Today, nearly a year after being released, Toomer said going from New York to Kansas City was like "going from the varsity to junior varsity."
Sigh.
Being bitter about his former teams is nothing new for Toomer considering he ripped the Giants after leaving them last year.
