Good morning everyone and sorry for your late Arrowheadlines.

Minicamp is this morning. I'm getting ready to head out to the morning session then hear from Todd Haley. Wish me luck in this humidity.

The other outside linebacker, Mike Vrabel, had two sacks last season. He had 12 ½ sacks in 2007 for New England and hadn’t been lower than three sacks in a season since becoming a starter for the Patriots in 2001. The Chiefs expect more from Vrabel, but he will be 35 in August. "I’m looking to contribute more in that area," Vrabel said. "That’s part of my goal.

HEAD COACH TODD HALEY - MINI-CAMP Q&A HIGHLIGHTS - JUNE 11, 2010
Q: Since this is more of a review and this offers more of a chance for evaluation, does that mean that OTAs are more focused on teaching? HALEY: "We’ve had some OTA days where we had two team periods, but it’s been a lot more drop-back pass, seven-on-seven type things, o-line working by themselves, the d-line working by themselves. The more team reps you have the better for all those guys up front. Again, we’re not in pads so we can’t really evaluate those guys until we’re in pads. It was good on both sides. For the coaches, we get to see maybe some guys that haven’t had very many reps get in there and do something and guys that have been looking for reps are getting more. I would say that’s the biggest change."

On 1st and 2nd down drills Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis were once again running with the first team. RB Thomas Jones took a couple snaps in the wildcat formation. During 7-on-7 drill WR Chris Chambers made a diving catch on a post route deep down the field with a defender on his back. If his OTA work is any indication of things to come this season, Chiefs fans are going to be very pleased with Chambers.

All through the two practices, the defensive coaching staff was mixing and matching players in the secondary and at linebacker. When the first defense went on the field, recent starters in Derrick Johnson and Jovan Belcher at inside linebacker and rookie Kendrick Lewis at one of the safety spots, were replaced by last year’s starters in Demorrio Williams, Corey Mays and Jon McGraw. It’s just another reason why Haley says it would be wrong to put the focus on the depth chart right now.

There were 85 players on the field. Punter Dustin Colquitt was missing. No official word on his absence but he and his wife are expecting their third child any day now.
