Yes, yes, it's May. It's only May. But the Chiefs are getting a jump start on one aspect of their defense that's virtually guaranteed -- Eric Berry as a starter.
Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com reports Berry lined up with the first team at OTAs this morning.
Per Looney, he's the first rookie to do so four days into OTAs.
Reshard Langford was previously holding down the first team duties.
It's only May (as I've said twice in less than 200 words) but it's imperative that Berry get as much exposure to the first team defense because there's no doubt in anyone's mind he'll be the starter from day one.
Sure, Todd Haley can preach competition -- and that's important -- but top five safeties when you, uh, don't really have many starting caliber safeties generally start.
Is this the beginning of a fruitful relationship between Berry and the Chiefs?
