Chiefs Head Coach Todd Haley Believes in Karma

Todd Haley answers reporters' questions during Sunday afternoon's post mini-camp press conference.

The Kansas City Chiefs are going to have plenty of players in for tryouts this off season. Take the 33-man rookie mini-camp this past weekend for example. The Chiefs got a good look at all of those guys over the last four days.

Some will make the team or the practice squad. Most will not make the team and may not get another chance anywhere else. And for a lucky few, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley will help find them a job.

Turns out, if the Chiefs come across a good player, but they don't have room for him on the 80-man roster, they'll do their best to help him find a job.

In this afternoon's press conference Haley said in response to a question about that, "I was taught very early on, and what I told the players at the start of the week was, if you can play, we'll know or someone else will and tell them right out of the gate that if it's not here, we'll do something to try to help you."

At least one player has already been helped by Haley this off season. The head coach said, "I won't get into specifics, but there was actually somebody here that we felt that about and I've already left two messages for other people because again, if a guy's got a chance, then you want to try to help them."

What compels the second-year head coach to do favors for possible, future competition?

"Karma, is that what they call it?"

I really like finding out interesting, behind the scenes pieces of information like this. Shows that the Chiefs aren't entirely paranoid when it comes to giving others good information.
