Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 5/10

Good morning, and happy Monday. We are just 7 days away from rookies and vets working together. I know it hasn't begun yet, because there's next to nothing on the news front (again). We do have an update on a team that was reportedly interested in Henderson, and a former Chief is running for political office.

Still waiting for Bob Gretz to post this morning. I'll update when it's up.

It has been a mad scramble over the weekend as we celebrated the graduation of our youngest with her Masters of Science in Speech Pathology from the University of Tulsa. As a parent, you always hope your children are smarter than you; that was not too hard for Liz, but she went above and beyond to get it done. Congratulations sweetie!

Now back to work as we catch up on a number of items from around the world of pro football.

WHERE IS JOHN HENDERSON?

Derrick Thomas, the late Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and Crimson Tide standout, was awarded a posthumous bachelor’s degree at UA’s commencement.

Now [John] Henderson is still having a hard time finding a gig. Rumor has it that he visited with the New York Giants and had some kind of interest from the Kansas City Chiefs. Now the Philadelphia Eagles for some reason are letting the world know that they don't want Henderson wearing Philly green next year, according to CSNPhilly.com.

In New Jersey, Jon Runyan is going after a congressional seat with the same determination that made him an All Pro and fan favorite with the Philadelphia Eagles. Clint Didier, a former NFL tight end turned alfalfa farmer, is campaigning for the U.S. Senate in Washington state. Another former NBA center, Shawn Bradley, is running for the Utah Legislature.

One thing I can say for McDaniels is that he knows how to create a very competitive environment. Each and every player on the team knows that if they don't show up on time, work their butts off and play up to expectations they may be the next to be traded away. It doesn't matter who you are to McDaniels. Marshall showed up late for a physical therapy session so McDaniels held him out of the last game of the 2009 season. I am sure there were other reasons as well but if Denver would have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs that game, they may have made the playoffs. Instead, they lost the game and missed the playoffs for the 4th consecutive year.
