Chiefs' Charlie Weis Was Supposed To Run Jimmy Clausen Workout

As many of you know, Jimmy Clausen threw for scouts today at the Notre Dame campus. According to reports he looked "solid" completing 57/59 passes.

Here's the interesting part of the Clausen workout for us in Kansas City -- Charlie Weis was originally supposed to run the workout.

Then, according to Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune, he was supposed to attend simply as a rep for the Chiefs.

As it turns out, both parties decided Weis' involvement would be too much of a distraction and called it off.

I'm not sure what the distraction would be. Clausen potentially has millions of dollars on the line so he should go with who he's most comfortable with and that is/was apparently Weis.

Ultimately it likely doesn't matter because the throws Clausen made came straight from Weis' offense -- the same offense that's being run in Kansas City.

Oh, and one of Clausen's receivers at the workout today?

Golden Tate.

As we've said before, whether the Chiefs were there or not doesn't matter. Every player on the field was recruited by and played for Weis so the Chiefs know more about these Notre Dame guys than any other team in the NFL.
