The Kansas City Chiefs announced their organized team activities (OTA) schedule yesterday.
These are basically practices with the team. The NFL allows 14 of these -- one of them mandatory. Here are the dates:
May 17-19, May 24-25, May 27, June 1-3, June 7-9, June 14-15
One of those sessions will be mandatory and the Chiefs should also hold a rookie minicamp.
Mandatory camp: Last year the Chiefs mandatory minicamp was June 5th-7th so I suspect it will be either the June 1-3 or 7-9 this year.
Rookie camp: Also last year, the Chiefs held a rookie minicamp May 8-10. This group includes the 2010 draft class as well as other tryouts with less than two years of experience.
Hardly seems like the offseason. Within a month of the conclusion of the draft, we'll see football...with helmets on!
