Here comes the next wave of possibilities. And of course, there will be endless fan posts and stories on site about the possibilities of the Chiefs acquiring so-and-so or rumors of who is connected to who. But for those of you ringing your hands over the Chiefs failure to address a particular position or wishing that the Chiefs could have gotten in on a particular player, you might find some of your reasons why in the next few weeks.
That's because today alone has brought some incredible names to the "players now available list." You have a defensive tackle like John Henderson hitting the free agency market. Wide receivers like Michael Clayton and Mark Clayton are supposedly both suffering the same fate as well. The Pats just let Adalius Thomas hit the market. Jags linebacker Clint Ingram had his tender rescinded, making last year's starting ILB a free agent. That doesn't include OG Alan Faneca, the biggest name to splash on the FA board.
And that's just the beginning. The rumors are churning that Todd Heap might be on the outs after a nice career with the Ravens. After trading for Brady Quinn, the Broncos might just cut him after drafting Tim Tebow. Things will only continue this week as teams sort out their rosters and give some of the veterans a decent chance to catch on with another team (or just want to avoid paying any bonuses that are due in the coming months).
For the Chiefs, some of these names might fit. Perhaps not. Either way, there will be a new pool of players to choose from and go after and some might be just the fits you were looking for -- albeit in an entirely different place.
