Get excited, Chiefs fans. Clark Hunt has September 13th circled on his calendar and plans to make it an event for fans to celebrate in "grand style".
"It won't be your typical opener I can tell you that," Hunt told Kevin Kietzmann on 810 WHB's Between The Lines this evening.
"The fact that we'll be playing at night on Monday Night Football alone makes it special. But certainly given that it's the grand re-opening of Arrowhead Stadium, we'll go out of our way to make it an extra special evening for the fans."
The Chiefs will be playing the second of two MNF games that day, which means kickoff isn't until 9:15 PM. The late start was never an issue, Hunt says, and they would actually prefer it for this occasion.
"if you think about having a big party to re-open the new Arrowhead. It's best to do it late in the evening where everyone can really celebrate in grand style."
And that's just week one. Overall, Hunt is pleased with the Chiefs schedule and, just like us, has already started looking at what games the Chiefs can win.
"In general, I really like the flow of the schedule," he said. "We're not out on the road at any point for three weeks. It's a good mix of home and away games.
"I think it is fun to think about the month of December and the Chiefs competing for a playoff spot. Not a better place to do that than at Arrowhead in week 16 and 17."
