Andy Studebaker Now Under Contract With The Chiefs

Outside linebacker Andy Studebaker was a pleasant surprise in 2009 starting two games in place of the injured Mike Vrabel. In his first career start, Studebaker intercepted two passes, including a 90+ yard return on one.

He's also seemed to draw the attention of the coaching staff who have had nice things to say about him.

And that's a good thing because he'll be back in 2010.

Studebaker signed his tender on Friday, according to Scout.com.

An exclusive rights free agent, Studebaker had two or less years of NFL service which means his only option was to accept the Chiefs tender offer. He'll pocket about $470,000 in 2010.

This is a big, big year for Studebaker.

Vrabel is working on a one-year contract so he needs to demonstrate to the coaching staff that he can capably replace him in 2011 and beyond.
