Chiefs Picks In The Two Round SB Nation Mock Draft

Well, folks, after lots of coordination from Mocking The Draft, we've completed the SB Nation two round mock draft.

There are some huge reaches (Taylor Mays with the Seahawks sixth pick) and great values (Arrelious Benn with the Cowboys 59th pick).

Here's how things went down for the Chiefs, who were represented by Chris and I. The analysis is coming from Mocking The Draft. My biggest regret would be failing to address the nose tackle position.

5. Alabama LB Rolando McClain

McClain would not only make an immediate impact, but he'll give the defense a tougher mentality. Rey Maualuga didn't have the best statistical season for the Bengals, but he gave their defense a nastier demeanor. McClain can do the same - and he's a far better player.

36. USF S Nate Allen

If a free safety is the choice for Kansas City, I much prefer Morgan Burnett of Georgia Tech. He's more of a playmaker than Allen. Still, either player would be better what the team has on its roster. It might also be hard to pass up on Damian Williams, who looks like a Derrick Mason clone in the making.

50. Hillsdale OT Jared Veldheer

Teams picking late in the second round face a real quandary. A lot of them need an offensive tackle, but the dropoff at this point is huge. If the Chiefs did go tackle with this pick, Rodger Saffold might be a little better choice as he can start sooner. But Veldheer is a huge upside selection, so it's hard to dislike it too much. Veldheer has the potential to be to Kansas City what Sebastian Vollmer was to New England last year.
