Clark Hunt requested that the NFL schedule the Chiefs first home game in a nationally televised setting to show off the multi-million renovation to the 'New Arrowhead'.

Will that be the case? We should find out this week but the Royals schedule shows it's a possibility for the first game to be at home.

The Chiefs share an adjoining parking lot with Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals. Historically both teams haven't been scheduled for home games on the same day.

So here's the Royals schedule as it relates to the NFL season:

  • Week One: Away
  • Week Two: Home
  • Week Three: Away
  • Week Four: Home

[Editor's Note: Baseball in Kansas City ends in the first few days of October.]

This would indicate the Chiefs would play away games in week two and four since the Royals have 1:10 PM games on both those days. Or it's possible the Chiefs are home in those weeks and will play a night game (or, gasp, a Monday night game).

Also, just because the Royals are away, doesn't mean the Chiefs will be home but it is unlikely the Chiefs will have a noon game in weeks two or four.

Any other big events in Kansas City during the season that could conflict with the schedule?
