Good Morning AP. Here's your Kansas City Chiefs news for today. Keep an eye on AP for the Chiefs preseason schedule that's rumored to be released later today.
The current rumors about the future employer of QB Donovan McNabb remained just that after the close of business in the NFL on Tuesday.
Over the last week, just about every team in the league with the exception of the Chiefs has been linked to a trade for the Philadelphia quarterback. Don’t fall for any April Fool’s Day jokes on Thursday about McNabb heading for Arrowhead. But don’t be surprised if somebody reports it as fact.
I’m not quite sure there’s anything we can completely believe in this soap opera.

The Kansas City Chiefs hired Adam Zimmer as a defensive assistant/assistant linebackers coach today, the team announced.
The son of Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, Zimmer coached for the past four seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Based on the argument of fairness (and seasoned with some spicy numbers), the owners decided to tweak the previous set of rules established for the eventual extra-periods of post-season play, by determining different scenarios to end those additional sessions. Without a doubt, the reminiscence of the ‘10 NFC Championship Game between the Saints and the Vikings (where the Saints drove down the field in their first OT possession to set up the winning score) lingered heavily in the minds of the owners while they pondered this decision, and that decidedly propelled them to modify the past conditions.
And yet, I’m not sold on the new arrangements — and probably never will. Why? I’ll let the following do the explaining.

Smashburger, a fast-casual "better burger" restaurant will open its first location on April 1, 2010 at 6551 West 119th Street (just east of Metcalf in The Fountains Shopping Center) in Overland Park, Kansas.
As part of the grand opening celebration, Smashburger is partnering with Brian Waters’ charitable organization, The 54 Foundation. As a guard for the Kansas City Chiefs, 10-year National Football League (NFL) veteran and recent recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, Brian Waters is well known for his work on the football field and in the communities in which he lives and works.

Free safety Eric Berry is scheduled to visit the Redskins beginning Wednesday night, according to a league source.
The former Tennessee all-American also will spend time Thursday at Redskins Park. Berry, who will travel to Ashburn after visiting the Kansas City Chiefs, was a big-time playmaker in college. Berry has the best coverage skills of all the draft-eligible safety prospects, some talent evaluators believe.

Missouri linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday and Thursday, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.
Weatherspoon has previously conducted a private workout for the Atlanta Falcons.
The 6-foot-1, 239-pounder posted a 40-inch vertical leap at the combine.

According to the Miami Herald’s website Thomas is scheduled to visit the Miami Dolphins this week while ESPN.com says he also will visit the Cincinnati Bengals this week. However, both the Houston Texans, who pick 20th in the draft and the Dallas Cowboys who have the 27th pick are in the market for a cornerback.
Weatherspoon interviewed with more than 20 NFL teams at the recent combine, where his stock went way up. The Atlanta Falcons expressed an interest in the personable linebacker, along with the Cowboys and Texans. He is scheduled to meet with the Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints this week.

I find it funny that the two best safeties in the league, play on the Steelers and the Ravens. Also known as the defensive juggernauts of the NFL. They might have a down year or two, but you always know that eventually the Steelers or Ravens are going to put it back together on defense.
I had to ask myself: How dominant would these guys have been on a Chiefs defense with no pass rush? Last year the Chiefs finished 31st in sacks and in 2008 they set the all time record for least amount of sacks.
Polamalu and Reed are players who jump routes and read quarterbacks. They have made their careers on quarterbacks who panic under pressure. If you let a quarterback sit in the pocket for 6 seconds as he methodically looks for open receiver’s down field, then it doesn’t matter who your safeties are.

bestyle @ArrowheadPride Here's hoping the Donx have as much trouble finding a kicker as we did. Would love to see them miss some game-winners.

kentbabb As much as I make fun of the Chiefs sometimes, my opinions on two topics have cost me followers like none other: BBQ and Tim Tebow.
