Way back on March 6th, AP reader dablueguy posted the following titled "Newest Chiefs Assistant Coach":
Adam Zimmer, son of Mike Zimmer, Bengals DC. Adam was a Saints assistant LB Coach this year, and will have the same job with us. I haven't seen this announced anywhere, but I heard his father on the radio today and he broke the news.
Nearly a month later and the news is confirmed via Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com.
Adam Zimmer, son of Mike Zimmer, is officially part of the Chiefs coaching staff - official role is "defensive assistant/assistant LBs"
Kudos to dablueguy for reporting the news earlier than anyone else.
Zimmer spent some time with Chiefs current LB coach Gary Gibbs in New Orleans so that appears to be the connection (Update: Todd Haley and Mike Zimmer also worked together with the Cowboys.)
There's not much information on him out there and his bio at KCChiefs.com isn't posted yet so we'll let you know when it is. Here is the release from the Chiefs.
