Panthers make "last ditch" effort to keep Peppers

Julius Peppers is the crown jewel of free agency this year. There's no doubt that when he wants to play, he can play with the best of 'em. However, the cost is the problem associated with him.

According to Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com, the Panthers made a "last ditch effort" to retain Peppers in the neighborhood of $14 million per year.

Fourteen freakin' million. Per year.

According to various reports, Peppers will have trouble getting more than $10 million per season. But all it takes is one team...

Browns guard could become available

The Browns are not expected to retain unrestricted free agent guard Rex Hadnot ,according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Hadnot was signed by the Mangini regime so it wouldn't be far out there if the Chiefs and GM Scott Pioli were interested in him.

Hadnot's cousin, James, was drafted by the Chiefs in 1980.

Bears TE Greg Olsen on the trade block?

According to Peggy Kusinski of NBCChicago.com, Bears tight end Greg Olsen told his agent Drew Rosenhaus to find a trade partner.

Olsen reportedly isn't high on new offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who rarely uses the tight end.

The Chiefs have a need at tight end. Hmm...
